the guayabera never wrinkles
Notes from elcanyonazo on the last global crew party at M Bar… shoot!!! I like my photos here! kept the tone, feeling, mood of the zombie night… beautiful girls al size and color, hot DJs, fresh tunes:
i was expecting a good party at M bar this Tuesday … me + 3 dope diskjocks, couple drummers, buncha beautiful women and bar owner with nothing to lose, notorious for skirting the rules about when to close + stop serving liquor … yeah i can work with that
but DAMN i didnt know it was gonna be THAT good … i mean like best party of the year. i should be kinda salty cuz i straight up LOST the selector battle against Gozar, Gusto and Bennett. Aight maybe no one lost, but Bennett definitely won. Serious props … I spun after his epic set, and could do nothing but play tha payaso, silly hard jams for a zombie dance pit … I went on at 230am and kept a solid 95% dancefloor retention rate during my hour
—-> go look at Farah Sosa’s photos … they’re amazing

Codega Presents: DJ VADIM, DEREK ALLEN and CANYON CODY, Nov 17, 2011 via FARAHSTOP shot at King King,
Mexican Institute of Sound (Camilo Lara) + Canyon Cody + Raul Campos at the KCRW vinyl vault in Los Angeles.
MAKU a badass band. Hard to categorize. Not rootsy, not electronic, not straight dance/drum circle, but not exactly avantgardge jazz either.
Because of a funny crowd crossover, I played some poppy damn music at this party. Nice to have Gato drummin at my left to give it some flavor though.
What a joy DJing alongside Quantic. He’s my fav 21s century musician, and I always look forward to when dude comes thru LA. I had just seen him in Mexico a few weeks prior for Vive Latino, and got to open for Ondatropica when we came with the full band last summer. This was just a solo DJ trip for Mr. Will Holland, but he brought some bangin 7”s as expected. Todd Simon hopped up on the smokey stage for some collabs. I gave him a test pressing of the Subsuelo 7” since the records werent ready yet. I also played some really weird music, if I remember correctly.
I’m headed to NYC next weekend for the FANIA pop-up store and concert series. Super damn excited, not only because its Fania, but also because it’s always a blast playing with Uproot Andy and Geko Jones from Que Bajo.
It’s free with RSVP —> http://www.fania.com/armada

tak about pan comido. easiest party of my life. dubclub already brings a crowd, then we had an open bar for the first 2 hours, and then NORTEC + BUYE ? haha yeah i can work with that
played some wacky jams too … supermambo violento, if i remember correctly.
normally backstage/VIP is boring bullshit, but with buye and all our crew, there was jam up there which was just as good as the show on stage.
